Moon HOC Meeting
An original story by From A Storyteller.
‘Hello, welcome to our twelfth Moon Sector C Homeowners Committee meeting. Please take your seats.’
Everyone filed into the domed room and took their seats at the round table, on their chair made of circles.
‘As you can see, we have an empty chair. As per the events of the last meeting, Tyson has been removed from the Committee due to reckless behaviour.’
Everyone mumbled to themselves, and the person sitting next to them at the mention of Tyson’s name.
‘Let’s get to our first order of business. There have been reports of vandalism on the north section of the outer dome. We’ll pull up the live camera now.’
Monitors around the table lit up. The graffiti on the outer dome was visible to everyone straight away. In giant red letters, it simply said, “Check my seat.”
The HOC leader marched her way around to Tyson’s empty seat. She picked up a red envelope, tore it open, pulled out a card and read it to the committee.
‘Get well soon.’ She held the front of the card up to everyone so they could see the picture of an alien in a hospital bed before she opened it. ‘Enjoy the fireworks, hope they aren’t too close for comfort.’
A murmur went around the room. The HOC leader’s face turned the same bright shade of red as the graffiti.
‘Look! There’s movement on the live feed,’ said a committee member.
Everyone looked back at their monitors. The HOC leader had her eyes locked onto Tyson’s monitor.
Someone in their moon suit was heading out of the airlock. They bounced a few paces once they were outside the dome and turned around. The clear visor of their helmet showed their identity to everyone watching. The person waved directly towards the camera before bouncing away.
‘Damn you, Tyson,’ said the HOC leader as a fireball burst within the dome.
Tyson looked back at the dome. A large fissure ran from the base to its peak. ‘Next time, let me paint my house red,’ he muttered. He turned and bounced away, heading to the nearest housing sector.
